Ssangyong Driver Joins The Focus Cup
Simon Warr is drawn in by the new single make Championship’s level playing field.
Simon first took to the track attending track days throughout the country, quickly getting the bug and then wanted to become competitive. In 2014 he entered his Alfa 147 GTA into the Javelin Sprint series, going on to take the title in both 2014 and 2015. Furthering his ambition to be a full-on racing driver, together with his brother Luke they joined the 2017 Ssangyong Musso Challenge for a thoroughly enjoyable years racing. Unfortunately to Simon’s disappointment, Ssangyong UK pulled the support for the pick-up race series the following year. So, Simon decided, that once he had the bug, he couldn’t stay away and looked at other single make championships for 2019. Finding the Focus Cup, Simon explained “I really enjoy racing, so I want to progress my skills and one day will hopefully stand on the top step of the podium. I love the idea that to keep everything equal, all the cars are maintained under one roof and that driving a different car at each weekend keeps things as level as possible. I can’t wait for April and the first round at Donington”.
